Day Two - 5/5

[13:59] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: as well as they played last night, I don't think all those shots fall for the Rockets all series. Its gonna go six or maybe seven, and they played incredible defense and will continue to, but I don't see them outscoring the lakers the whole series
[13:59] Aaron Rosenberger: i have to agree
[13:59] Aaron Rosenberger: they look pretty terrible on offense most of the time
[14:00] Aaron Rosenberger: and the lakers won't miss threes like that for a whole series
[14:00] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: i know dude. actually i think its all about artest and that saddens me. i think that Yao and Brooks will continue to have a monster series, but they need artest to play like last night all series and i don't think he will
[14:01] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: was i the only one that felt like michael lewis' article was totally vindicated last night though? Battier just played solid, SOLID D on Kobe. He constantly had a hand in his face and Kobe rarely got to the rim
[14:02] Aaron Rosenberger: i agree. battier was awesome
[14:02] Aaron Rosenberger: my only argument with that article has always been this:
[14:02] Aaron Rosenberger: dude was a high school player of the year and college POY at Duke
[14:02] Aaron Rosenberger: "he's a six foot five Arab on dialysis. Why is that so fucking hard to find?"
[14:03] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: well yeah, THATS true. the part about battier as diamond-in-the-rough is total bullshit. and I think he totally underachieves on offense if you look at his skills at duke
[14:03] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: but the parts abotu battier-as-legit-defender are totally true
[14:03] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: and dude, Vujacic gets away with SO MUCH and i can't think that its for any reason other than being a euro. (see also: ginobili, manu)
[14:05] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: i just looked at the shot chart, Kobe took three shots in the lane all night!!
[14:06] Aaron Rosenberger: yeah, they pretty much shut him down
[14:06] Aaron Rosenberger: he'll get more calls in the next game, though
[14:06] Aaron Rosenberger: the officials let houston rough him up a little
[14:08] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: i don't know man, i didn't think it was all that physical. i mean i'm pretty sure the lakers are gonna win this series, but i'm not sure what to think about it
[14:08] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: i feel like game 1 doesn't really matter that much anymore
[14:08] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: (see Iverson, Allen, 2001 finals)
[14:08] Aaron Rosenberger: i was thinking about that. the bulls won game 1 against boston this year, too
[14:09] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: yeah exactly
[14:09] Aaron Rosenberger: we know that the lakers are good enough to get one in houston, so winning this one isn't such a big deal
[14:09] Aaron Rosenberger: but for one night, it was sweet
[14:09] Aaron Rosenberger: artest will shoot them out of a game or two, so i like to enjoy his good games while i can
[14:09] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: yeah exactly. legler said that he thought the rockets D was good enough to get one on the road and their home crowd was good enough for one at home, so they woudl get two, and i think that still holds
[14:10] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: and don't forget that gonig from playing the Jazz D to the Rockets is a little bit of a shock to the system
[14:10] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: yeah dude, I love Artest right now
[14:11] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: the dude couldn't miss in the first
[14:11] Aaron Rosenberger: and he's so awkward, but effective when he's on
[14:11] Aaron Rosenberger: it's awesome
[14:12] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: i know. its sort of the joey dorsey corollary. like he just found out how to play basketball yesterday
[14:13] Aaron Rosenberger: right. every game is his first one
[14:13] Aaron Rosenberger: and the most important of his life
[14:14] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: exactly, its awesome
[14:14] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: also, there is a reason this conversation is devoid of any talk about Celtics/Magic, as last night was devoid of any texts about Celts/Magic. i hope they both lose
[14:15] Aaron Rosenberger: i might not watch one minute of that series
[14:15] Aaron Rosenberger: i don't care about it at all
[14:15] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: i know dude, i tried to sit down and watch it and got bored
[14:15] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: Hedo does absolutely nothing for me
[14:16] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: and Rafer Alston makes me want to cover my eyes every time he has the ball
[14:16] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: that said
[14:16] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: isn't it weird that Alston could be the difference maker in the Magic WINNING that series while he most definitely would have been the difference maker in the Rockets LOSING their series
[14:16] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: i mean he hasn't done much yet, but if the magic are going to win the series they are going to need guard play, and they are only going to get it from him
[14:17] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: also, that series is so boring I found myself compelled by JJ Redick
[14:18] Aaron Rosenberger: sadly, i feel you on that.
[14:18] Aaron Rosenberger: and yes, it's crazy that alston can go from number one liability to x-factor over the course of a season
[14:18] Aaron Rosenberger: i can't really think of anything else like it
[14:19] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: i know. its totally a testament to how bad the magic's backcourt really is, and not anything about rafer himself
[14:25] Aaron Rosenberger: yeah, he is who he is
[14:25] Aaron Rosenberger: in the right situation, he can contribute
[14:25] Aaron Rosenberger: if you ask him to carry you, you're probably effed
[14:25] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: totally. i'm so pumped for Nugs/Mavs tonight. I hope K Mart body checks dirk again
[14:28] Aaron Rosenberger: the nuggs are where it's at right now for sure
[14:29] Aaron Rosenberger: they were just fucking awesome in game 1
[14:29] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: totally, they have by far the most confidence right now of any team other than the Cavs
[14:29] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: every other team has played scared at least once in the playoffs except them
[14:31] Aaron Rosenberger: it's true. they ain't scurred of nobody
[14:31] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: not at all. the only teams who haven't shown, even for a minute, in the playoffs are them, the cavs, and you know what, i'm gonna say the celtics
[14:32] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: untalented, yes, soft, not for a minute
[14:32] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: you could maybe say yesterday, but you would be wrong, they were fatigued yesterday
[14:32] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: dude you'll love this http://idolator.com/5226232/quentin-tarantino-mash-up-almost-makes-me-like-remix-culture
[14:33] Aaron Rosenberger: i think you're right. the celtics are bullies, like everyone says, but not scared. they're just old and tired
[14:34] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: exactly. the lakers look soft. i love odom, but he's soft by nature, thats just who he is. and Pau is a Euro, so i mean take that as it is
[14:35] Aaron Rosenberger: something about playing in hollywood makes them soft, too
[14:35] Aaron Rosenberger: just too much to care about other than basketball
[14:35] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: oh you're so right, i think thats totally the case. and that was ok in the 80's with the style of ball being played, but not anymore
[14:36] Aaron Rosenberger: nope. ball has to be your life if you want to win a title
[14:36] Aaron Rosenberger: i gotta go holler at my boss
[14:36] ajrosenberger@gmail.com: agreed. alright, catch ya later
[14:36] Aaron Rosenberger: cool, man. keep it real
